Flipping Burgers and Students
Recent news reports have documented the fact that at least one high school
in Houston ISD drastically increased the number of students held back in
ninth grade and was able to achieve dramatic improvements in the state
test scores since the test was given in tenth grade.

The practice of holding students for several years in one grade and then
skipping them ahead to eleventh so as to miss the test is known as
"flipping" a student.
