Hi Sue,

We have a video at BC that has two films by Pare Lorentz. One of them is
called The River. It sounds like the film to which you are referring.

Summary The first work traces the social and economic history of the
Great Plains from the settlement of the prairies through the World War I

consequences of sharecropping, soil exhaustion, unchecked erosion, and
flooding. Concludes with scenes of regional planning, Tennessee Valley
development, and correlated Federal efforts.
