I think a good alternative to using LC for sound recordings is the ANSCR
classification system.

I'd recommend ANSCR for these reasons:

* It's so easy to use that even a non-cataloger can create the call numbers
* It's a system that nicely facilitates browsing
* Call numbers are shorter and easier to read than LC numbers
* We found that many of the OCLC records for CDs DO NOT have LC numbers,
which means if you went with LC you'd have to do a lot of the call number
work in-house.
