We've slapped together a pretty rough-n'-tumble web site covering some of
the territory covered in the UCB documentary exhibit now up and running in
the Doe (Main Library) on campus... It's posted
at: http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/MRC/reellife
Wish we could somehow include two of the coolest items: the portable,
synchronous sound Auricon 16mm camera cobbled together by Robert Drew and
Associates in the early 60's (the camera that basically "invented" cinema
verite in the US) and...strange but true...Werner Herzog's half-eaten shoe
(embalmed in lucite for posterity), courtesy of Les Blank (the story behind
the shoe is at
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/MRC/reellife/lesblank.htm)
There's a reception to celebrate the official opening of the exhibit on
Thursday 15 May 5-7pm in the Morrison Library. You're all invited!
Enjoy!
Gary
(we're gonna try to film the exhibit and stream excerpts...stay tuned!)
