We also shelve out non-fiction videos by Dewey Decimal number. We keep it
as simple as possible and only use main three digits. For example: Any
video on travel within North America would be 917 and the first three
letters of the main entry. (I'm not a cataloger - so bear with any
errors) Actual performance videos, such as filmed stage plays or operas,
are also given a Dewey number and shelved with nonfiction. If it's a film
version of a play (for example Branagh's Henry V), it goes in with the
feature films.

We've found this to be the best way to access by subject.
