East Wind, West Wind

In 1993, at Charleston’s Cultural Center Theater,"East Wind, West Wind -
Pearl Buck," the only feature documentary on WV’s most famous daughter,
Pearl S. Buck, had its world premiere. Donn Rogosin, director of WSWP-TV
in Beckley, and his director, Craig Davidson, traveled the country and
the world, interviewing people about America’s first female Nobel Prize
winner. I did research on the project, arranged for the premiere here as
part of the Spring WVIFF and held the party at my home. Rogosin, who now
works in NY, is a relative of a famous Russian filmmaker with the same
name. His uncle, Lionel Rogosin, founded NYC’s Bleecker Street Cinema.
The WV Library Commission has one of three 16mm prints of “East Wind,
West Wind.” You can now purchase a VHS copy from Filmakers Library in
NYC. .http://www.filmakers.com/indivs/EastWind.htm
