We have a clerk doing the repairs. Although I found it to be rather
Zen-like and a welcome change from the routine, you know how time and
tides are. Just too busy with other things and it's a lot cheaper for a
clerk to do the repairs than a librarian.

I've asked her not to spend more than 20 minutes on a tape. Tends to
get more expensive in the long run than just replacing with a new copy.
She saves us thousands of dollars a year in videotape, DVD, audiotape
and CD repairs. Echoing others, we discard if the tape is broken
anywhere but a leader splice.
