Which rather nicely summarizes the whole blaxploitation genre. Perhaps
interested viewers should be pointed toward Docurama's Baadasss Cinema, a
documentary that explores the history of blaxploitation movies before
actually viewing Sweet Sweetback, or The Mack, or Hell Up in Harlem, or Foxy
Brown. And if patrons are put off by this stuff, they'd better be
restricted from some of the YA books currently out as well as every Steven
Seagal movie--adolescent sex in the former, senseless violence in the
latter. In any case, whether it's sex, violence, drug use or uppity
minorities that bugs one, blaxploitation movies have it and then some. I
hope the offended patron doesn't decide to check out the biker movie genre
next.
