Since this has come up rather frequently on this listserv, I thought I'd
pass along the info in case anyone hasn't seen the ads.
Murnau's "Sunrise" is going to be released on vhs and DVD next year by
Fox, HOWEVER it will only be available as a rebate-type premium to
consumers who have purchased 3 other "Fox Studio Classics". But any
three titles from this series at retail and you get a coupon to mail in
for a copy of "Sunrise" for free.
This makes it rather difficult for libraries to get a copy but I suppose
we could buy the videos out of our own pockets to get the freebie - the
problem is that all of the other advertised titles in the series have
been released previously (All About Eve, How Green Was My Valley,
Gentleman's Agreement), so unless you need or want extra copies of them
you are out of luck.
