here at CWU we keep the videos in a closed stack area behind our counter. This works well to keep an eye on the materials. However, we allow all our patrons to check them out, and we are continually trying ways to increase awareness of our holdings. We had been using the III booking module for videos for faculty use only up to fall 2001, and after that we used the III circulation module to allow the entire campus access. After a rough start last year battling professors who did not want the system changed (We delivered the tapes to the academic offices as well, stopping that when we switched over to the circ module because we needed id cards to check the material out), the change has been a success. Our struggle now is to provide ways to help our patrons "browse" our materials.
Just my two cents.
