non-video, media inquiry

I apologize for posting a non-video inquiry to this list, and please excuse
any cross-posting.

For those with multi-format circulating, open-stack collections, could you
please share any experience you have had with security strips/protection
labels for compact discs and cd roms? We are considering this as a possible
option for our collection, as opposed to the locking security cases
(although that is a possible option). I continue to hear a variety of
reactions to the stripping of the physical cds. Some librarians I've spoken
with indicate no problems whatsoever, and yet I've talked with individuals
who have gotten stripped materials stuck in their players, etc.

Any specifics regarding your successes or concerns would be greatly
appreciated.
