A lot of the move to DVD has to do with profit. DVDs can be
produced as fast as you can snap your fingers, and much cheaper per unit
than VHS. I have a friend who has been in the video rental business for
years and he says they are having more trouble with scratched and damaged
DVDs than with tapes. Personally I prefer DVD for the image quality and
other features. I don't buy many audio cassettes these days either.
