OT but fun

Not being a librarian the "EL" Norte problem stuck me as funny but than
it is even weirder with film prints. Our depots are CONSTANTLY misplacing
the 35mm prints of "M" because they can't seem to figure out what it is
Some of the title listing are hilariously mangled, my personal favorite
was a missing print of UGETSU which was found YEARS later under the
title " GOOD MORNING UGETSU" ( probably a weird combination of another
Japanese film title) but the all time best title confusion story came to me
recently from the Pacific Cinematheque in Vancouver. As you know Canada
has VERY strict anti- pornography laws and a print we sent them of "8 1/2"
got stopped at the border last year. As with most 35mm films the title
appears on the side and the customs people thought it meant 8 1/2 INCHES
and that it was a porn film. The Cinematheque straightened it out and it is
nice to know that the Canadian Border people can let in terrorists but are
ever vigilant on Fellini films.
