digital video support

Hello,

At the Robertson Media Center at the University of Virginia Library we
operate a digital media lab as part of our suite of media services. In
this lab we offer support to students, staff and faculty for media
creation and delivery, providing hardware, software and training in the
areas of audio, video, and images (2 and 3-dimensional, raster and
vector).

Business is booming, and we are grappling with issues relating to the
scaling of our services. Who could have anticipated the floods of
students coming in to do digital video! Our 14 Mac workstations
(Finalcut and IMovie) are completely inadequate to meet the exploding
demand. Figuring out how to scale up our services to meet the demand
for digital video is one of our biggest challenges.

I was hoping to get some feedback from the members of this list. I
would be very interested in hearing from you if you also offer support
for digital video creation and use. A brief description of your
services would be very useful - as would any strategies that you've
developed for coping with rising demand. If digital video support is
provided elsewhere in your University, I would be grateful to have that
information as well.

I'd be happy to summarize responses for the list.

thanks in advance -
