i didn't see it in PBS' catalog, but i will talk to
one of the reps and maybe they do still have it.
Thanks -
rhonda

Profiles Mexican painter Frida Kahlo
(1907-1954) who
lived much of her life in the shadow of her
husband, Mexican mural painter Diego
Rivera
(1886-1957). Examines Kahlo's autobiographical
paintings which emphasize her
constant physical pain
(a result of a crippling accident at the age of
eighteen which broke her spine and
crushed her limbs);
her powerful sexuality and political
commitment; and her abiding
attachment to the ways of
the Mexican peasantry. Discusses the painter's
relationships with Rivera and
Russian political exile
Leon Trotsky; her lifelong allegiance to the
Communist Party; the miscarriages
and numerous
operations she endured; and her development of a
highly personal "primitive
surrealist" style of art.
