Julie, I will let you know how we handle videos at the Duluth Public Library, Duluth MN.

1. How long is your loan period for videos/dvds? Our videos go out for 1 week, renewable for another week. We used to circulate the videos for 3 days but decided to change the circulation time when our collection increased. We own over 8000 videos. Our homebound patrons get the videos for the length of the route, about 4 weeks.

2. How many videos/dvds can a patron check out? There is no limit, they can check out as many as they like. We allow our homebound patrons only 6 videos since they go out for the lenght of the homebound route.

3. Do you have different loan rules for different categories of patrons? The loan period is the same. We do allow people using the video for a class to check-out the video for 2 weeks with no renewal time. We do not hold or reserve videos for specific dates.

We recently added labels to all our videos stating "1 week circulation, $2.00/day overdue fine" since we were having people claim they did not know our video policy.

Hope this helps.
