Soap Opera Documentary/ Analysis and 28UP (Granada)

I've been asked to search out a video documentary on Soap Operas. One with
some analysis of the whys, the appeal, the longevity, the effects of Soaps.
The kind of thing the Media Education Foundation would do (but hasn't!)

Any suggestions?

and while I'm at it, does anybody have a contact name at Granada Media in
the UK? I am looking for the 28UP documentary (with Canadian educational
rights), and got a rather... terse reply from the person I did email asking
about it!
