Who Stores/Circulates Your Collections?

We here at Wake Forest University currently have a closed media
collection (less than 10,000 items currently) that is circulated from a
desk in our department. We are considering moving the collection to a
space at our main Circulation desk in the Library and letting them do
the daily maintenance on the collection (holds, recalls, check-out,
replacement of lost/damaged items, etc.) while I would still serve as
collection developer.

This comes out of a call for us to increase the computer training and
multimedia services we offer and being forced to give something up so we
can do this.

I would love to hear from other institutions that have a similar
arrangement, or a different arrangement that might work in our case. We
are located in very close proximity to our Circulation desk.
