We use the SkipDoctor, the electric model. It has already paid for itself.
Works on: compact discs, DVD's, CDROM's, Books on Compact Discs....
It's almost amazing.

I recently attended ALA in San Francisco where I saw a demonstration of the
DiskChek unit which checks, cleans and rejuvenates DVD's and CD's. (Now if
could only brew my morning coffee, I'd be sold!) Seriously, my question is
this - has anyone purchased this unit or do you know anyone who has? I find
in the contingent that is inordinately fond of DVD's but seriously doubts
whether we're going to get much bang for our buck - certainly not like we
did with
videos, some of which have circulated more than 500 times! I smell a
here. I know this listserve is not intended to discuss equipment although I
