I didn't know anyone was using accession numbers anymore. We're a public
library system and don't use them. While our nonfiction videocassettes
and laserdiscs are classified by call no., our new DVDs are not. We must
convince Cataloging to do this. With any new medium, it seems we are slow
to treat it as we do existing media. I have old nonfiction videocassettes
lacking call nos. and, in some cases, subject headings. Recataloging has
low priority, of course.
