A great book on this subject is Rob Burt's ROCKERAMA: 25 YEARS OF TEEN SCREEN
IDOLS, 1983. It is out-of-print but available used at Amazon.com for only
$6! It lists lots of rock movies, including the more unusual like "Two Lane
Blacktop" with James Taylor, and British movies like Cliff Richard's
"Expresso Bongo."
Another movie not yet mentioned is The Monkees' "Head," which sort-of
deconstructs the rock movie.
