Nobody's mentioning experimental but Kenneth Anger does jump to mind. He's
been called the grandfather of the rock video.

SCORPIO RISING (1964) contains a lot of pop tunes

INVOCATION OF MY DEMON BROTHER (1969) and LUCIFER RISING (1973) were done in
collaboration with Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.

As far as 90's films go, Madonna's TRUTH OR DARE is a pretty good backstage
"rock" documentary (quotations because next to the Sex Pistols and the
Rolling Stones, Madonna seems less like rock and roll.
