Besides the films Gary mentioned, I would also recommend "Dream Window:
Reflections on the Japanese Garden" that was written by Peter Grilli and has
music by Toru Takemitsu. It was a Smithsonian VHS and Lumivision laserdisc so
I hope it's still available and perhaps on DVD. It's my favorite film on the
subject. (And this comes from somebody who just bought his wife a compost
tumbler this morning...)

Also on a peripheral subject is Hiroshi Teshigahara's "Rikyu" about the
founder of the tea ceremony and remarkable flower arrangement ideas. It's a
gorgeous film. Sad to say, by the way, Mr. Teshigahara died this past weekend
at the age of 74.
