Glad you asked! We're pleased to announce the Best Documentary Feature
Academy Award Nominations of two California Newsreel releases:

Tod Lending's LEGACY - A personal look at America's welfare system and its
effect on one particular African American family in Chicago.

Deborah Hoffmann's and Frances Reid's LONG NIGHT'S JOURNEY INTO DAY - an
inside look at South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Both
titles can be found at our website http://www.newsreel.org.

We're also celebrationg the Best Documentary Short Subject nomination of ON
TIPTOE: GENTLE STEPS TO FREEDOM about Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the
influtential and popular South African musical group. This title will be
released by Newsreel in September 2001.

hi,
given the nominated documentary features this morning, can anyone tell me
what is out for purchase?

i know " Sound and Fury" is at Filmaker's Library and "Long Night's Journey
into Day" is from California Newsreel...

but what of "Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport",
"Legacy" and "Scottsboro: An American Tragedy"????
