Viva Zapata is lucky. At least it had a video release. Fox (the distributor)
still hasn't gotten around to releasing Visconti's The Leopard. Anyway, Viva
is still available in the U.K. but, generally, 50-year-old films are not
high on the priority lists of major film companies. Viva Zapata is only one
of about a million titles that is suffering the effects of a dying audience
(literally). In the coming years you can expect the focus for re-issues will
be concentrated on titles that appeared on the AFI Top 100 list from a few
years ago.

Does anyone know the particulars of why Elia Kazan's "Viva Zapata!" (1952)
is no longer available on video? Legal? Lack of interest/intiative?
