At ALA, there was a wonderful program on "Byting into Video" which discussed
DVD, Video, video streaming (the last was basically over my head, tech wise)
One of the points made was that technologies do overlap. With the millions
of dollars invested in video, it probably isn't going to go away very soon.
Also, DVDs are taking off in a way that laserdiscs never did.
Unfortunately, the solution of buying both is difficult for a lot of
institutions. Again, what is the mission of your library, and how does your
video collection fit into that mission? How did you decide to add video?
or compact discs? or any new format. Just a few thoughts.
