At San Francisco State University we have about 250 DVD's and about 1,800
laserdiscs in our collection. Our campus is extensively wired for
classroom showings and the attitude we usually find is that teachers don't
care what format the program they are showing is in, so long as it appears
on their tv when they want to show it. So we're gradually migrating to
DVD, but we won't toss our laserdiscs - or videotapes or 16mm films, for
that matter. Our website is http://www.sfsu.edu/~avitv/ and the media
catalog is at http://www.sfsu.edu/~avitv/AV.mediacatalog.html

Also heard a rumor this morning from a distributor that Carl Sagan's
series "Cosmos" may be distributed on DVD within a year's time.
