Back before ALA in July, I announced the Video Round Table program on
digital video, "Byting into Video: DVD and Network Delivery." Some
people emailed me that they could not attend ALA, but would be interested
in tapes of the program. The four speakers were excellent! We received
very positive feedback from attendees. Two of the presentations are on
the web (see URLs below) and tapes are available of all four. Complete
information will be forthcoming in the VRT News, but here's the summary.

The speakers were Walt Crawford, Senior Analyst/Information Architect,
RLG, speaking on DVD (<>);
Judy Napier, Director of Audiovisual Services, Schaumburg Township
District Library, describing her library's decision to begin a DVD
collection; Karen C. Lund, Digital Conversion Specialist, National
Digital Library Program, Library of Congress, describing successes
offering digital video on the Internet; and Claire Dougherty,
Director of the New Media Center, Northwestern University
describing her work digitizing videorcordings in the library's collection
to provide improved access to students.

Audiocassettes of the program, are available from Teach 'Em for $26.00
(set of 2). Phone number: 312-467-0424; fax: 312-467-9271; e-mail:; address: 160 E. Illinois St., Suite 300,
