Our collection is not solely purchasing DVDs, although we have been gradually building our collection. The biggest problem for us is that not all feature films are being released in DVD, and precious few documentaries are. As the last respondent also said, many schools have a large investment in vcr equipment, as well, not to mention the reluctance of some patrons to use new technology.

Are any Audiovisual Librarians changing their collection development policies
to purchase only (or primarily) DVDs? Anyone have thoughts on the wisdom of
such a policy? My Library Director is urging us to buy DVD, and only DVD,
unless a title is not available in this format. Feedback on the pros and cons
