Hi Folks, I just had a telephone question from a Sara Dallas of the Upper
Hudson Library System (NY)(UHLS) concerning Public Performance videos and
remember a listserv question regarding the existance of MPLC. I called a
contact currently using MPLC to see if they were still around and indeed
they are: MPLC, 5455 Centinela Ave., PO Box 66970, Los Angeles, CA
90066-6970 (800) 462-8855.

Ms. Dallas would like input from anyone regarding how you use PP videos, do
you purchase PP rights (different from blanket MPLC rights)?, how do you
justify higher PP rights price?, do you use MPLC (other company Films,
Inc. used to but they are defunct now)?

Right now, the UHLS libraries use Weston Woods titles for children's
programming but really can't justify the price. However, I told her that
WW was recently purchasaed by Scholastic and has lowered the prices and is
packaging them similiar to CC Studios but with PP rights. Anyone more
familiar with this than I am. Other companies that have children's titles
with PP rights? Thanks for any help you can provide to her. Please e-mail
the listserv with a cc to Sara Dallas - sara@uhls.lib.ny.us. Thanks so
much for your help in this matter - she would welcome any
advice/information on this matter. Jim Scholtz.
