We began circulating DVDs in April 1999. We use Alpha Security cases, which
are not particularly difficult to remove. Nor are the security cases patron
or staff unfriendly-but they are an unfortunate necessity. We have over 300
titles which circulated over 1,000 times last month. I've lost about eight
to being long overdue but none to theft (yet, I'm sure someone will
eventually figure out a way to get one out.) Security systems aren't
foolproof either when the item can be handled by the public before
checkout-we had 3 CDs stripped and stolen the other day.
