Core Video List -- Vendors

I've read the comments from vendors and there's one overriding reason to
exclude them from the process of creating the core video list: the list
should be user-focused. The titles that I love in my collection are not
necessarily the ones that are most heavily used by students and faculty. I
won't be nominating them. I will concentrate my choices on the 25 or
notable titles that have proven their value to our users. With a final
list of 200 or so, that seems to be imperative to me. Vendors know the
excellent titles -- particularly on their own backlists -- but they don't
know the titles that are winners with users.

Mike, I agree with you about _Dancing Outlaw_. I love that video. But I
don't think it would be among my choices for an opening-day collection!
Maybe we need a separate side-bar category: weird but wonderful. -- Kris
