Projector Use

Starting | Shutting Down | Troubleshooting | Remote | Replacing the Bulb

To start up the projector:

  • Use the power button on the remote to turn the projector on.
  • Point the remote at either the lens of the projector itself OR the projector screen & hit the power button.
  • Press the power button just once to turn it on, then wait - the screen will display the instructor's screen within two minutes.
To shut down the projector:
  • Use the power button on the remote to turn the projector off.
  • Point the remote at either the lens of the projector itself OR the projector screen & hit the power button.
  • After hitting the power button, the screen will go dark, but the fan will continue to run for a while to cool down the projector.

Troubleshooting:

1. The projector doesn't seem to be turning on.

  • You may be pressing the power button on the remote so quickly that you're repeatedly turning the projector on and off, which will cause the projector to freeze.
  • Wait a few minutes and then press the power button just once - the screen will display the instructor's screen within two minutes.

2. The projector screen is showing a "blank" blue screen instead of the instructor's computer screen.

  • Point the remote at the projector screen or at the projector itself & press the RGB button on the top left part of the remote.
  • Press repeatedly until you see "RGB 2" displayed in text on the top right-hand corner of the projector screen. Then you should also see the instructor's screen projected.

3. The projector is not as bright as usual, or the message "Replace Lamp" appears on the projector screen. The projector bulb needs to be replaced.

** Please notify Jennifer Dorner (2-1580) ASAP!

Remote Control Features:

Power Use the power button on the remote to turn the projector on or off. Point the remote at either the lens of the projector itself OR the projector screen & hit the power button.
RGB Use the RGB button if the projector screen is showing a "blank" blue screen instead of the instructor's computer screen. Point the remote at the screen or projector and press the button until you see "RGB 2" displayed in text on the top right-hand corner of the projector screen. Then you should see the instructor's computer screen projected.
Laser Press the laser button to activate the laser. The laser is intense and can be damaging to your eyesight; DO NOT point the beam at yourself or others.
Menu ETS has recommended that we not use the "Menu" feature of the remote, as there are too many options that can adversely affect the projector's performance if set incorrectly.
On/Off Switch The remote does NOT have an on/off switch. It is always "ON".

*The remote control is battery operated. New batteries can be obtained from
the Teaching Library (302 Moffitt).
