Special Agreements - UC Extension

UC Extension provides continuing education opportunities to members of the community. UC Extension is a self-supporting enterprise, and pays overhead to the campus when classes are offered in campus facilities.

UC Extension concurrent enrollment program:
UC Extension has what they call a "concurrent enrollment program". Enrollees are mostly either former UCB students who need to take a single class from a UCB professor to finish a major or to make up an incomplete or other students needing just one class to complete pre-requisite or degree requirements for UCB or other colleges. Approximately 2500 students participate annually. (This is not to be confused with UC/community college concurrent enrollment program or the cross registration programs between UCB and California state and private univerisities.) Fees paid by students are split 50/50 between UC Extension and the department in which the student studies. ID: copy of concurrent "accepted" concurrent enrollment application.

Services to students enrolled in UC extension classes:
Upon presenting a "confirmation of enrollment" at the Library Privileges Desk, students enrolled in UC Extension classes are eligible for library privileges at a reduced fee.

English Language program through UC Extension:
UC Extension offers a variety of intensive language programs geared for foreigners wanting to study English in the United Sates. Consolidated total enrollment from these programs: 2800 annually. The programs are 6- or 10- week courses, and are offered year-round. ID: ELP id card.

Fall Freshman program:
Program involves 500 students each Fall. Allows students who have been accepted to UCB for the Spring semester, to begin taking prerequisite for-credit courses at UC Extension the preceding fall semester. ID: UCB student registrar id.
