The following handouts contain "how to" information on a
variety of common questions faced by PC and Network users. Feel free to
print out hard copies of any topic areas of interest to you.

Norton/ Windows
- move/copy/delete files on hard/floppy drives
- create/delete subdirectories on hard/floppy drives
- open and use several windows simultaneously
- change icons

Novell
- distinguish between your Novell account, your Library (UNIX) account and your cc:Mail account?
- discern the source of the problem to be Novell login failure (being NOT logged in) when having problems printing to a
networked printer, or accessing cc:Mail
- login to Novell server without exiting Windows?
- attach to other servers

- understand the function of AA-GRAPELINK
- distinguish between an archive and a file
- create a private mailing list
- change your password
- send mail to non-cc:Mail Intemet addresses
- create a folder
- change confirmations
WordPerfect
- printing to a PostScript file
- create a macro
- insert graphics into a document
- use the manual/help/workbook to answer questions
- change settings on the automafic backup ftmction
- change the default font
Internet
In General:
- know what an IP address is
- distinguish between ftp and telnet
- know the principle functions of the Intemet
- know when to use abbreviated or full e-mail addresses
- know of reference sources to answer questions on the Intemet
- distinguish between a client and a server
- know what the World Wide Web is
- use Netscape or another Web browser
- use a Web search tool (such as Yahoo, Inktomi or Alta Vista)
Using Lan WorkPlace:
- ftp a file using the Windows-based FTP software (aka Rapid Filer)
- telnet to other computers using the Telnet software (aka HostPresenter)
- set up a Telnet profile
- create a Telnet login script
- drag a Telnet profile onto the desktop
- ftp e-mail messages from Library to your hard disk
UNIX
- use basic UNIX commands (e.g. how to delete a file, how to list your files, etc.)
- use the simple UNIX editors Vi or Pico
- use PINE mail
- save a Pine mail message as a UNIX file
- use the Finger command
