1. Updates on membership
Sarah Sled (undergraduate) has joined the committee. No graduate students
have joined the committee yet, but information has been posted by the
Graduate Assembly. David Hollinger (faculty) and Sue Koskinen (library)
have resigned from the committee. We are in the process of finding
replacements.
2. Pursuing program proposals
No program proposals have been submitted so far. We decided to better
publicize the call for proposals by linking to it from the Library home
page (Action: B. Quigley will contact the webmaster about this
possibility). After discussing other options for attracting program
proposals, we decided to actively pursue individuals and groups that might
have an interest in planning a program on a controversial topic. Using the
results of our call for ideas from Spring 2001, each committee member
selected controversial topics which they will pursue. We brainstormed ideas
for individuals and groups that might be invited to develop program
proposals on selected topics (Action: B. Thorne will draft an email that
can be sent to the individuals and groups we identified as having potential
interest). Information on program parameters can be found in the FSM
Educational Programs Manual on our website at
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/Staff/FSM/ (Action: B. Quigley will update the
website).
3. Flyers and mailings
We postponed this discussion due to lack of time.
4. Future meeting times
We decided to meet in 303 Doe from 4-5 pm on Wednesdays as necessary. The
next meeting will be Wednesday, September 26th. At this next meeting, we
will discuss the possibility of scheduling a regular monthly meeting.
