Function Keys, Programming

Programming your function keys in MR-Win6530

If your unit has Wyse terminals, select this link for further directions.

Before you program your function keys in MR-Win6530, you need to add operations to map them to, or you can use pre-existing operations like "EditCopy" and "EditPaste" for example.

Now that you have some macros and/or scripts saved, you can map them to function keys. Or, you can also map to keystroke combinations like: Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, etc.

Do not map GLADIS logon and passwords to function keys or key combinations. Instead, download my GLADIS logon script from:http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/~jmitola/Downloads.html and unzip the file to your Mr-Win6530 folder: "C:\Progam Files\MR-Win6530\PROGRAM\logon.ous". Make sure the file is saved as "logon.ous" or the script won't work! This should happen by default.

Since this script should run every time you open your profile, attach it to your profile as a startup operation. This means that it will run automatically every time you open the profile.

Repeat these steps for every GLADIS profile you want to add this logon script to.

Programming your function keys for the older Wyse Terminals

To program the keys in your Wyse terminal:

The function keys may be programmed in any fashion your unit requires, except your logon and password. Upper or lower case characters may be used. If you make a typo, do not backspace. Press the function key you are trying to correct. You may then enter the correct program.

If the terminal is turned off, only the first four characters of each function key will be remembered. To reload them, you must go through the above process.

NOTE: If you want to have a Return as one of your eight characters, use the Enter key. The return key is used to save your sequence, and therefore cannot be loaded in a function key.

You may now logon to AutoCirc as usual. Select the following link if you have problems logging on.

Programming your function keys for the newer Wyse Terminals

The newer terminals have more memory capacity than the older ones. Notice as you program the functions that the highlighted space you are typing in gets smaller as you program more functions. As long as what you type is in the highlighted area, it will be saved when the machine is turned off and will not have to be reprogrammed.

In order to program the function keys, follow these steps:

NOTE:In order to go from one function key to the next while programming, you now only need to press the yellow down arrow; to return to one you've already programmed, press the yellow up arrow.

CAUTION:You must now use the RETURN key to program a "Carriage return" into a function key. On the old Wyse terminals, the RETURN key took you from function to function; now you must use the yellow up and down arrows to do this.
