Mark Morrow announced that all electronic and print exams have now been removed from Moffitt as of the Spring 08 semester. The F TI EXAMS command in Gladis is no longer valid.

Sheehan encouraged the use of the new change of address form in order to help speed up the data entry process for that information.

The November 2007 minutes were approved unanimously.

Penny distributed a copy of the LSO report for 11/21/2007 to 1/15/2008. In it she listed items that had been implemented and some upcoming events.

Implemented:

•	6 digit TEMP barcodes had been used up and Gladis has been modified to accept the new 8 digit format of TE00000001-TE99999999

•	Installed new Block code message. Block by a particular unit now refers patron to that unit’s circ supervisor instead of the Privileges Desk.

•	Upgraded Tandem Operating System to current release. Smooth implementation took only one day.

•	Ran a program to set indicators in the 541 and 561 fields to 1 (public) and in 583 fields to 0 (private) so they will display properly in OCLC’s WorldcatLocal.

Upcoming :

OCLC reclamation / deletes

•	A number of programs have been written and run to correct Gladis anomalies.
•	New version of program that exports records to OCLC has been created… includes CJK records and manuscripts.
•	Creating a snapshot of Gladis records and sending it to OCLC
•	Getting records ready for UC-OCLC Worldcat pilot project…i.e.. potential Melvyl replacement.

LSO staffing

•	Charis Takaro is the new head of ILS position, as of Jan.1
•	Job posting soon for new head of LSO Operations unit
•	Interviewing for other programmer positions.

The balance of the meeting time was a presentation given by Judith Weeks and Kelly Ward on “the Best Practices for Withdrawing Monographs Attache to
the minutes are two handouts that Judith and Kelly handed out to go along with their presentation.

Using a laptop projector and a connection to Gladis they showed the VC’s of several sample records they had created to display the various ways serials and monograph
has been incorrectly withdrawn from the collection previously. They then showed how to correct the records to the proper format. The intent of the presentation was to create
consistent records that facilitate proper display of information in Gladis thereby reducing patron confusion as well as producing more accurate reports for system maintenance
and the possible impact on OCLC.

A lively discussion ensued with many questions being asked by meeting attendees. Judith and Kelly noted that the information in the online Berkeley Processing Manual
(http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/Staff/BPM/) was still fairly accurate and could be used to answer most questions. They also said they’d be happy to answer specific question
as they might come up in the future. It was agreed by all that the presentation had been very helpful in increasing understanding of the withdrawal process.
