III.	Recruitment and Retention of Students -
A.	Norah Foster discusses– Students are graduating earlier creating a faster turn-around
        In 1999 wages were increased to $7.50, $8.50, and $9.55.  In 2000 they were increased to $8.50,
        $9.50, and $10.50.  In 2001 an $.08 increase.  No raises since 2001.  Brian Light mentions work 
        study because of diminishing budgets.  Recommend to PSC.  Peter Soriano discusses incentives for 
        students to stay longer.  $.10 increase after so many hours worked.  Create a better exit 
        questionnaire for better statistics.  Pick up questionnaire when picking up last pay check.  
        Merideth discusses not getting the best students.  RSF and Housing and Dining pay more than the 
        libraries.
B.	Committee is formed to look into options for student employee retention – Norah Foster, PeterSoriano,
        and Albert Garcia.

IV.	Preservation Department - John asks Are Affiliated libraries involved? What is the cost? Is it 
        cheaper to bind materials?  Brian Light discusses repairing books and what kind of training will 
        be needed.  Will it increase work load for self labeling units?  Long-term high-use item pamphlets 
        vs. paperback.  Paperbacks need spine label.  Books at conservation that have been recalled should 
        be sent back quickly.
V.	CSG Representatiion for New DMCS Head
A.	We would like to be involved in the process.  Do we want to have a meeting?  A representative will 
        help craft interview.  Leah Mascorro volunteered to be representative.  Sheehan Grant filled in as 
        representative.

VI.	Self Nominations for CSG co-chair.  
A.	The July meeting was the last for Claudette Smith as co-chair.  Self nominations for a new CSG took 
        place.  Sheehan Grant nominated himself and was approved for CSG co-chair.
