MINUTES

1. Introductions / Announcements

· A. Altstatt announced her departure from the Music Library to return
full-time to graduate school. She has accepted a position working part
time at ROHO. In the interim, CSG welcomed Shelby Foster. She is the
student assistant taking charge of Music's circulation responsibilities
during the interim prior to hiring Alison's replacement.

· C. Guerrero has accepted responsibility as the new Co-Chair of CSG. He
will begin his duties on July 1st. Congratulations to Cris!

· Sadly, this also meant that this was our last meeting with outgoing
chair Jutta Wiemhoff. We will miss having her leadership after her being
at the helm for two years, but also welcome Peter Soriano as the new
chair. Jutta leaves behind tough shoes to fill but we know that Peter is
up for the challenge! Thanks to Jutta for breathing life back into CSG!

· D. MacFarland announced Envi's closure and move back into Wurster Hall
from July 10th to July 31st. They will re-open at 210 Wurster Hall on
August 1st. Their book drop will be moved to the outside of Wurster after
a couple of final days in front of the Moffitt Library. The pickup
location for Envi in the NRLF Pathfinder request feature will be removed
until Envi re-opens.

· After Envi returns back to Wurster Hall, the Moffitt stacks in Level D
of Main will move back into the 5th floor of Moffitt.

· J. Thomas announced that the Gardner stacks are undergoing a major shift
on Level C. The project may last to the end of the academic year.

· P. Soriano reported that formatted patron files for Stanford would soon
be loaded into Gladis. Some of the features of these patron records:

- L8______ barcode that will not scan. You will have to bring up the
record by the patron's name.

- Patron records may contain email addresses only. We will have to input
the mailing address.

- We will not have their Social Security number. Another number unique to
them will work as their PIN number. More details & samples will be
coming.

· J. Wiemhoff informed CSG of plans to offer web delivery via NRLF request
on Pathfinder. Although a number of guidelines are still being worked
out, some of the features and issues are:

- UCB patrons with current ID and PIN numbers are eligible.

- This service will have a 35 page limit per request and allow 5 requests
per patron per day.

- Patrons who prefer a photocopy can ask to have it sent to a selected
pickup location.

- J. Thomas is working on the advertisements and publicity.

· P. Soriano announced that Elizabeth Byrne urged PSC and CSG to re-visit
the Circulation Services Goals
(http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/Staff/PS/Circ/) prepared by the Excellence in
Public Services Task Force.

2. Minutes from the Last Meeting

· Changes will be sent to W. Lynch and distributed.

3. Mentoring Program Draft Proposal (B. Light)

· The Mentoring Program Draft Proposal was brought up for debate by CSG.
Several people made comments that will be added to the draft. Overall,
CSG members feel that this program would be very beneficial to the library
and hope that it will be approved. Jutta wishes to have an updated
version by the beginning of July. She will forward both documents along
with a cover letter to Isabel Stirling for review by PSC. All CSG members
are encouraged to send their comments and recommendations about either
this Mentor Draft Proposal, or the Circulation Services Checklist
(presented last month) to Brian Light at blight@library.berkeley.edu by
Friday, June 28th . The Draft Proposal has been attached to the minutes.

Meeting Adjourned.
