ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Bookmarks are available for the new Patron initiated
inventories and renewals. C Baz distributed them to members of
the group.

2. M Martin described new emergency procedures for evening and
weekend wyse/pc computer problems. If a unit experiences
terminal problems during the weekend or evening call 642-3623 and
ask for a workleader. Be prepared to give the wyse terminal
number(s) to the student in charge. They will follow guidelines
put together by M Martin and J Towers. These instructions
include calling the campus network if all of a branches'
terminals are down or booting up individual computers. If
necessary workleaders will access the System's Office's phone
tree.

3. L Mansur announced that CARS will not be implemented for the
Fall Semester in the library. A possible target date for
implementation is Spring Semester 1996. A possible interim
solution is to bill only 2 hour, 1 day and items that have been
recalled. The billing of all other items could be postphoned
until the library comes up on CARS which could be six months or
more.

4. S Williams announced that Cal Cards with registration
stickers will be issued to incoming Undergraduate and Graduate
students in August 1995. Cal Cards will also be issued to
returning Undergraduates and Grads who have lost their old
student IDs.

5. J Ford stated that some foreign students were unable to make
use of the new Patron initiated inventory and renewal feature
because they did not have social security numbers. Units can
send these users' to the Service Desk where they will be given a
number that will allow them make use of this service.

SYSTEMS OFFICE REPORT

1. MAPS address was changed from Doe to Giannini in their
record. Notices have been going out with the wrong address ever
since they moved.

2. Changed the display of 555 field back to pre format
integration handling at the request of PSAG-PS and Randy Wilson.
It displays only if the record is a manuscript. It's display in
other formats was only confusing in the SHORT Display. It does
display in the LONG Display.

3. PATRON INITIATED INVENTORY AND RENEWALS were installed on
March 8th and announced to the public on March 15th. New HELP
INV and HELP RENEW screens were installed in the previous two
weeks. Changes were also made n the Help INV screen to remove
references to being billed on CARS, since this is not yet true.
The new commands were also added to the HELP GLOSSARY screen.

4. Changes were made to the detail screen for circ users which
now describe *b charges to status "3" borrowers as being
"Billable" rather than "Billed".

5. More cleanup following BIOS/FORE/ENTO merge. Items on
reserve in FORE or ENTO at the time of the merge were being
checked out from FORE or ENTO on the online inventory screen.
This has now been corrected to show BIOS.

6. Billing and recall billing grace periods for AH-C were
changed form 14 days to 7 days. An oversight in the original
AutoReserves programming was discovered. The owning unit's grace
periods were being used, rather than the reserve unit's. This
was corrected programmatically.

7. AUTOCIRC LOG. Penny will send out a document that explains
the information on the Auto Circ logs that are produced weekly.
Send her an E-mail request if you want this document.

The next CSG meeting will be Tuesday, April 18, 1995.
