Brown bag working session facilitated by Katherine Mitchell, Center for
Organizational Effectiveness:
--Define the library's core functions
--Focus on themes/categories in context of the extended Roundtable meetings
in April

M I N U T E S

Katherine Mitchell facilitated the extended working session by Cabinet to
define the Library's core functions, focusing on themes for discussion at
the extended Roundtable meetings scheduled for April.

Cabinet broke into small groups and worked on defining key elements in the
following major categories: Development, Instruction, Reference,
Technology, Administration, Collections, Technical Services, Circulation,
and the Public Environment. Each small group listed the critical elements
to preserve and areas for efficiencies in each of these main categories,
followed by short presentations with explanations to the entire Cabinet
group. The larger group discussions generated additional comments in each
category.

This process will continue at the regular Cabinet meeting on March 27, at
which time all the major categories/themes will be outlined in preparation
for the extended Roundtable discussions on April 10 and April 24.
