Given the current budget situation, this matter was referred to Admin for
discussion on February 12.
Comparison Report of Gifts to the Library (D.Duer)
D.Duer distributed a comparison report on gifts received, representing
actual cash donations as opposed to pledges, for the period July 1 January
31. Gifts received to date for FY 2002/03, totalled $3,117,965.

K.Mitchell facilitated the Cabinet discussion regarding library priorities
and the development of a process for translating priorities into
actions. Key objectives are balancing the budget, minimizing service
impact on patrons, and maintaining staff morale. Cabinet will frame
questions for future discussions with the Councils, Unit Heads, and
Roundtable. K.Mitchell and S.Wong will meet with T.Leonard regarding a
format for planning before the next Cabinet meeting. S.Wong will provide a
budget planning update at the Roundtable meeting on February 13, and
facilitate the continuing Cabinet discussion of the budget reduction
process on February 13. K.Mitchell will re-join Cabinet to facilitate on
February 20.
