1. Org Dev Suggestions for Calendar --T.Leonard

Cabinet discussed Org Dev's suggestions for the Library's spring calendar,
beginning with a review of the draft survey of Roundtable. Noting that
Roundtable is a forum for discussion rather than decision-making, some
draft survey questions were omitted or rephrased with emphasis upon the
sharing of information and effective communication rather than taking
action. Cabinet adopted the survey with the recommended changes. The
survey will be issued to Roundtable to collect opinions regarding the
group's efficacy. L.Leighton will collect the survey responses, which will
remain anonymous. When the results are in, Cabinet will ask Org Dev to
join a Cabinet discussion of the major issues.

During the spring, Cabinet attempted to schedule one-hour staff sessions
with individual AULs and directors with focus on individual departments,
but scheduling proved futile. These sessions must be postponed until summer
or fall.

Cabinet applauded Org Dev's progress on the training needs assessment
project. Org Dev is in the process of hiring a consultant, and they
anticipate the training assessment will occur in late spring and early summer.

2. Budget Schedule --M.Rancer

M.Rancer distributed working draft "B" of the Library's "Forecast FY
2002-2004, Operating Summary". Cabinet reviewed this preliminary 3-year
plan. Mike noted that this year's budget process will include a budget
call for furniture, facilities, equipment, new initiatives and other
one-time requests. Units will submit budget requests to their
AULs/directors, who in turn will prioritize the lists before forwarding to
the budget analyst. When budget spreadsheets are compiled, Cabinet
sub-groups will review categories of requests. It is expected that Cabinet
will adopt the preliminary final budget in late June.

Meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
