ANNOUNCEMENTS
--Cabinet welcomed Isabel Stirling as the new Associate University
Librarian and Director, Public Services, and thanked Katie Frohmberg for
her contributions as Interim Associate University Librarian.
--Recruitment is in progress for a Native American Studies Librarian within
the Ethnic Studies Library.
--The Bridging the Bay reception formerly scheduled for December 2 has been
postponed to March, 2000.

1. Workgroup on Access to Collections --J.Lowell
J.Lowell presented the list of nominations for membership on the Workgroup
on Access to Collections. Cabinet selected these representatives from the
following areas as stipulated by the charge:

J.Lowell will work with Prof. Leonard, chair of the Senate Library
Committee, to select the faculty representatives. Co-chairs have not yet
been designated.
Gail Ford will serve as staff support for the group. Katie Frohmberg will
serve as technical advisor to the Workgroup on Access to Collections during
the availabilty study phase.
2. Funding Requests: Staffing --J.Lowell
Cabinet generated a list of the most urgently needed staff positions, a
list of those units who have asked for more permanent GA, and a list of
those units who requested more S&E funds. The initial list totals more
than $500,000 in permanent funding requests. The amount of available
funding is approximately $130,000.
Discussion of funding requests for staffing, furniture and equipment
replacement, facilities, and new initiatives will continue at the next
Cabinet meeting.
