A G E N D A
1. Town Hall Meeting Draft Agenda --Jerry
Jerry shared the draft agenda for the initial town hall meetings. Members
discussed and contributed suggestions for specific agenda items. Town hall
meetings will be held on a quarterly basis for all library staff, with two
meetings offered on consecutive days to accommodate as many staff as
possible. All staff are encouraged to attend.
2. Model Options for Managers Group --Bernie
Bernie presented several options for membership in an advisory group, which
will be a forum for discussion, fact-finding, and dissemination of
information. The various options were compared for their broad, equitable
representation across library units. Consensus was reached on how best to
organize the group to be known as Roundtable. Bernie will create a
listserv. Jerry will announce at the Town Hall meetings.
3. Options for AUL Portfolios --Jerry
Jerry distributed sample organization charts representing various
configurations for AUL responsibilities. A subgroup (Jerry, Mike, Janice,
Katie, Barbara, Jim) will meet to discuss and reduce the number of options
for consideration, then report back at the next LPG (hereinafter to be
called Cabinet) meeting.
AUL portfolio options will be on the agenda for discussion at the initial
Roundtable meeting in preparation for the AUL recruitments.
4. Unit Head Input to G.R.Lowell --Jerry
Jerry sorted the input he received from unit heads in response to the set
of questions he posed regarding the three most important specific action
items to be resolved during the next three months and during the next two
years. One document sorts items by priority order within the 3-month and
2-year categories and the other by priority within subject categories.
These working documents will aid discussions within Cabinet and Roundtable
on how to proceed in the coming months.
5. Vacancies in Professional Recruitments --Jerry
The process used for the head of the Public Health Library will be the
model for filling vacancies in professional recruitments. A screening
committee will review the applications and recommend a short list of
candidates to be interviewed but will not make recommendations for hiring.
The screening committee consists of the appropriate AUL/Director, head of
Library Human Resources, an appropriate faculty member, and 1-2 other
librarians with relevant expertise. Candidates will interview with the
University Librarian, Admin group (formerly GoS), faculty and/or deans,
unit staff, and CAPA. In addition, candidates will make a public
presentation to faculty and librarians and meet with other relevant
librarian colleagues and staff. Each interview group will write an
evaluative letter for LHRD and the AUL/Director. The Admin group will make
the final recommendation for hiring.
