Meeting Contents
1. Announcements
§ This was Gary Peete’s last meeting before his retirement. The group thanked him for his great work over two terms with CC and wished him the best.
§ Chuck announced that he has formally created a new Collections advisory group: the Title Adjustment Group (TAG). Chuck, Margaret Phillips, Beth Weil, Mary Ann Mahoney and Jim Ronningen sit on this group. (More in item 3, below)
2. August transition meeting
§ Subject Councils and the Affiliated Libraries are in process of selecting new members for Collections Council. There will be a transition meeting in August, and members who are leaving as well as incoming members will be invited.
§ Gail distributed a draft document, “CC Accomplishments 2007-08” which CC reviewed and suggested some additions to. CC members are encouraged to send any other ideas to Gail in June/July to add to this draft. It will be distributed at the transition meeting as a way to introduce new members to what CC has recently addressed, and expects to be on our horizon in the upcoming year.
3. Licensing issues
Chuck reported that
§ TAG, the recently formalized Title Adjustment Group, was working on a project for CDC preparatory to the Elsevier negotiations
§ Berkeley has weighed in on the SCAP-funded databases it is willing to assume local support for; what tier these will fall into, and what our subscription shares will be depends on final decisions by the other campuses.
§ CDC will continue to do a Tier 1 and Tier 2 database reviews
§ Chuck and Margaret are working to draft e-resource trial guidelines for CC’s review.
4. June - July Schedule
§ Due to a variety of factors, Collections Council meetings will go in hiatus for the rest of June and July. We will resume our regular schedule of 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, beginning the second meeting of August on the 19th.
5. Annual Report call
CC discussed a few refinements to the Annual Report 07-08, and Budget Call for 08-09. Chuck will send the call to selectors shortly.
