1. ILS Discussion

Charis Takaro and Penny Bertrang facilitated CC’s discussion of the question, “What do you need from an Integrated Library System to do your work and support your mission?” Elise Woods and Ty Johnson joined CC for this discussion.

For purposes of this discussion, CC tabled ERMS issues. CC also assumed that INNOPAC functionality and reporting would carry forward to Millenium.

Many of CC’s suggestions centered on desired reporting for statistical reporting and collections analysis.

CC encouraged Charis to request rather in-depth demonstrations of the catalog, the acquisitions modules, and the ERMS as soon as these become feasible. CC asked that Charis return to CC especially regarding the ERMS once we’ve been able to see the product.

CC will be very interested in further conversations with Charis as she begins to formulate detailed systems specs.

2. Announcements

Chuck mentioned that Manuel Erviti and Elizabeth Byrne will be making presentations to the Library Advisory Board this week to showcase collections in Music and Envi.

Chuck announced that we are in process of leasing Ebrary. Formal announcement and promotion are forthcoming.

Linda Vida announced that Water Resources, Institute for Transportation Studies and the Institute for Government studies have been investigating with Charis the possibility of being included in the Next Generation MELVYL. Discussions continue.

3. Elsevier

CDC has asked for campus advice on several questions pertaining to the upcoming renegotiation of the Elsevier contract. Chuck heard from CC. He will meet with Beth Weil, Mary Ann Mahoney, Jim Ronningen and Margaret Phillips to formulate Berkeley’s response.

4. SCAP Review

Margaret summarized discussions to date on Berkeley’s willingness to pay locally for most of the databases that are being dropped from SCAP funding. Margaret and Chuck will finalize these conversations and report back to CDC.
