I. Changes in monographic series cataloging (Carole McEwan, guest)

Lee Leighton has charged a Technical Services working group to review series treatment practices to bring workflows in line with national standards before a single file UC catalog is implemented. Members of this group include: Carole McEwan, Jim Gordon, Tonette Mendoza, Ginny Moon, Cathy Scheiman and Judith Weeks. When they have issued their report, they will forward it to Lee and Isabel Stirling.

ACTION: Bernie will communicate with Isabel and Lee about how a broader selector perspective can be integrated into the recommendations of this working group.

II. Bibliographic Services Task Force Report

There was a discussion about how much Collections Council wants to be involved in responding and reacting to the Bibliographic Services Task Force Report. Members of CC offered some of their own thoughts on the report and acknowledged that the next steps taken will involve a balance between meeting the needs of public services and those of technical services. The question was also raised about what the implications are, if any, for collection development. The general interpretation of the report is that collection development is not being addressed. All were encouraged to attend the 3/13/06 Early Bird and to provide individual input on the report. Bernie, meantime, will continue to keep Collections Council updated on issues relevant to the BSTF.

III. Remaining One-time Calls

Bernie has already approved the calls for Thomson/Gale resources and orders have been placed.

Bernie will continue to work directly with selectors on the IDC microfilm requests. He will seek additional bibliographic information to see if any of the requested collections are already held at Stanford or CRL. He will also check individual funds as necessary and perhaps ask for additional co-pay from the selector. He expects to make a decision next week.

Next meeting: April 4.
