that goes soon to the campus.
* David Sullivan is polling the A&H Council for ideas they might have about
collections UC might consider as we move into planning for "shared print
collections where no digital counterpart exists". David will report results

Meeting Content:
Agenda:
I. Gladis Programming Project List (guests: LG-S and PB)
* Gail distributed a revised version of "Gladis projects that might be
construed as Collections Council related."
* Members agreed to send Gail their "top five" picks from this list by
Friday, for her to compile in anticipation of decision-making by CC at
their March 15 meeting.
II. Announcements
* Series on approval. CC representatives to Councils agreed to discuss the
series on approval option with Council, using files Gail distributed last week.
* CDL post-print server. Margaret reported that the CDL post-print server
is live and had 50-60 articles mounted at her last visit to the site. She
reminded folks that Tom offered liaisons language they might use in
contacting their faculty. Margaret reported that CDL will be making a
concerted effort to contact eligible authors at each campus regarding their
ability to post to the CDL post-print server. CDL will be using the 2004
Web of Knowledge as a source for names.
* CC approved a draft 1-page report of those 1-time access projects that
are moving forward. Bernie will send this out to selectors/refstaff.
III. Budget request to campus (Bernie)
Bernie asked CC's advice on a Collections budget request that will go
forward to the campus. He shared both an updated spreadsheet showing
anticipated deficits, and draft text of the request. All units have been
advised by campus that there is very little discretionary money. ADMIN and
Cabinet concur that we should be focused on our highest priority in this
year's request: to cover inflation for collections. CC agreed with the
strategy and gist of the text, making a few suggestions on the wording of
the document.
IV. Shared Prospective Print (SPP) - feedback from Councils?
Sciences and Social Sciences Councils talked about Shared Prospective Print
for collections where no digital counterpart exists. They were not able to
identify any collections they thought to be particularly well suited to
this aspect of SPP planning. Arts & Humanities are being polled via email,
and David Sullivan will send email to Bernie with the results.
V. National Academy Press (Jim Gordon)
In response to a proposal submitted by Jim Gordon to begin receiving NAP
titles through YBP, CC agreed to take this idea to Councils, and report
back to CC.
VI. New AUL for Collections
Search
* Bernie mentioned that March 1 marked the first day that resumes for the
AUL-Collections were available to be reviewed. He reported that as of March
1 we had received five resumes.
* ADMIN is discussing how to expand the candidate pool, using a recruitment
firm with experience in hiring librarians.
Interview process
* The interview process last time for an AUL for Collections seemed too
daunting. This round will be simpler since responsibility for operations of
the humanities/social sciences branches is no longer part of the job
description.
* CC suggested that we simplify the interview process in other ways as
well. For example, perhaps candidates only need to meet with Collections
Council rather than all of the subject Councils.
* Norma reminded folks that candidates will need to meet with CAPA.
Upcoming Agendas:
* Binding inflation
* Dilib and Dilis
* Search for new AUL for Collections
